Tiffany B.

Continuing to clean out Mom's room to create a space for Phase 1 of the photography studio that will ultimately end up in the (now overload with junk) garage, I made another serious dent in the clean up effort in anticipation of house guest arriving the next day.  Of course, their arrival coincided with the only day Tiffany (a woman from our Prayer Circle at work) could sit for a session.

So I split the room in half, turned the bed to one side in front of the closet and set up my backdrop and lighting equipment. Everyone arrived within 30 minutes of each other.  So I left Sheilla and the boys in the living room with the guest and went straight to work.  Since everything was already set up, shooting was very easy.

After about 15 minutes (max) of shooting including two backdrop changes and lighting combinations, we were done.  And I believe we were able to capture a few great shots. One of the portraits with a richer preset is probably my favorite.

Once again, very happy I stepped out of my comfort zone to ask.  Tiffany was an absolute pleasure to work with. I don't think there was a single bad frame in the bunch.  Perhaps this will get easier as I continue to ASK.

The Line Up

Okay. So now I have 5 (maybe 6) shoots to book in the next couple of weeks.

Tiffany B - Janary 26
Metre D - February 3 & 11
Joanna S - Feb 10
Lauren W - TBD
Jessica G - TBD
Erick E - TBD

This will definitely put the project back on schedule.

Very excited to connect with each of these subjects.  Let's see if I can pull one or even two of these together for this weekend.

Meanwhile, Mom's room to studio conversion continues.  Each week, I put a dent in the clean up and organizing.  I believe this weekend, I will be able to move all of my photography equipment into the room in an organized fashion.  This will open up the space in front of the bar in the den.  Exciting.

Here are a few shots from our hike at Victory Trailhead last weekend. Nothing exciting.  But a stink beetle showed up and was a less than willing subject. 😃

8 years ago today, Sheilla and I quietly gazed in complete bewilderment at this sleeping creation sent from Heaven - neatly swaddled in Kaiser wrap. We had no idea what the future held. But we were excited for every second, minute and hour that passed as we took our first exhilarating steps at growing our family.  I woke up feeling the exact same way this morning - 8 years later. Our son, Sebastian is 8 today. It's been an amazing journey of learning for is all.  And I still look forward to what every second; minute; hour brings. I'm so proud of the intelligent, loving and sensitive boy you have become. May God continue to bless and direct your path.  Happy birthday, Son.

Answer to a Prayer

Well, I did my first ask of the year this morning. Tiffany, a young lady in our prayer circle. I feel like I've either worked with her or known her somewhere else.  But after our circle up, I explained to her what I was up to this year and invited her to take a look at my website.

I think that she will do an amazing portrait.  Am excited to create something cool with her.  Very open and down to earth.

Anyway, I was also finally able to put into words something that my heart has felt for a long time now.  Even though I've been going after the low hanging fruit - that is, folks that are camera ready and I know will have a distinct and dynamic portrait, I believe that everyone I see had, has or will have a moment captured that produces an EPIC portrait.  Capturing the beauty in that moment feels like it  could end up being my life's work.

Week 1: Back in the Saddle

Wasn't able to have any fruitful portrait discussions today. But I was able to edit a couple of shots from yesterday. I will count them as portraits for this Week 1. I will also set up domain names for both boys where I can put all of their work.

2018 Let's try this again

January 1st 2018 started off very well. I reached out to a model that I wanted to work with this year, and heard back. Was able to spend some quality time with my mom at the nursing home. And went on a hike to Victoria Trailhead Park with the entire family. We had an amazing time out there. And I was able to capture some very cool shots has we went. Hoping to start a trend for the rest of the year. My goal is that we hike at least once a week - preferably on Sunday afternoon's. We also went to church yesterday.

Week 3: Sebastian's Headshot

No takers last week. But the exercise was still rewarding and taught me some things about how to be in the face of "No". So I turned to working on a good head shot for Sebastian. We'll keep working.
